How to price a quote that wins the job

Buyers on Tradeora see every quote on a request side by side: price, delivery time, and your rating. It's tempting to assume the lowest number wins — in practice, it's rarely that simple, and racing to the bottom on price mostly just leaves money on the table.

Price is one column, not the whole decision

A buyer comparing quotes is weighing price against delivery time and your track record at the same time. If your rating is strong, you don't need to be the cheapest quote in the list — you need to be a quote a buyer feels confident accepting. Undercutting everyone signals cheap more than it signals value.

Answer quickly

Your average response time is visible on your profile, and buyers notice it. A fast, detailed quote on a fresh request beats a cheaper one that shows up two days later after the buyer's already spoken to someone else.

Put real detail in the quote message

A one-line "R4500, 3 days" quote is indistinguishable from every other one-line quote. A quote that explains what's included, what isn't, and why your delivery time is what it is reads as someone who actually understood the request — which is exactly what a buyer with a real job (not just a price-fishing expedition) is looking for.

Build your rating deliberately

Every completed order is a chance at a review across four criteria — communication, price, quality, delivery. Doing consistently solid work on smaller, lower-margin early jobs is what earns the "Trusted" verification level and the reviews that let you price properly on the jobs that follow. See our guide to how buyers vet suppliers to understand exactly what they're looking at.

Show, don't just tell

If you sell products or services rather than one-off RFQ work, a listing with real photos and a proper description converts far better than a bare name and price — buyers judge a listing with an empty photo slot as unfinished or untrustworthy, even if the work behind it is excellent.
